When a porta potty is honestly fine.

We'll say it even though we rent the other thing: sometimes a porta potty is the right call. A construction site, a casual field bonfire, a kids' sports day where everyone's in rubber boots anyway. If nobody's dressed up and the budget is tight, a standard unit does the job.
